Fort Kherjarla and Village Life

Our next destination was the 400 year old heritage property, Fort Kherjarla which is 53 miles from Jodhpur and will take us on our way to Pushkar. We stopped several times on the way when photographic opportunities presented themselves like this goat herd.

It was wonderful to meet the people in the villages. They were extremely curious about our clothing and wondered why we were not wearing bangles or arm decorations or nose rings, which I believe symbolises that a woman is married. The children were so friendly and happy to have their photos taken and the men and women very happy to show us their work and show off their goats and jewellery. Mary-Anne even got given a beautiful wedding invitation.

Below the magnificent Fort Kherjarla where we were going to spend the night. Jane and I had room 211 and Ian managed to land himself the Maharaja's room for a well deserved night of authentic luxury.

I was very excited to take a quick walk through the Village of Kherjarla with Ian and there were just so many opportunities here.

Next time we experience the jeep ride of our lives and see the Marwari Horses, Pipar Village and the age old tradition of block printing.
